About the Event

Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary latest Stories From the Blue: Saving Koholā!

In celebration of Hawaiʻi's wonderful winter visitors, the majestic koholā, humpback whales, NOAAʻs Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and Papahānaumokuākea National Marine Sanctuary invite you to a special event. We will be showing our new film, Stories from the Blue: Saving Koholā, which offers a rare and intimate look at the work NOAA and partners do to monitor and disentangle humpback whales. The screening will include a short talk about koholā, and as a truly special treat we will have our new inflatable humpback whale on site so you can experience what it is like to go inside a whale! This is a family friendly event!

Saving Koholā - This film documents the high-stakes work of responding to these incidents, from tracking, approaching, and disentangling whales from dangerous debris. Come along as we follow the response tea…
